This book picks up after the end of book 2, when the "witch", whose name I forgot so I will just call her the witch, failed to break up Angus and Gwen and was told to leave and never return. I will have to google it , is the hero of this story.
He was cursed by the same said witch that if any woman who slept with him would conceive and die at childbirth, which was how Lachlan's first wife died many years ago. Ever since Lachlan had been looking for the witch to lift the curse because he could not have sex. Seriously, this is his single motive in most of the book Then entered an heiress, Catherine, who had lost her memory but was returned home after 5 long years.
She looked eerily like the witch. Lachlan found her and of course immediately assumed that Catherine was the witch. And so on and so forth. Witch or no witch? Sex or no sex? To do or not to do, that is the question.
I was really scared that Catherine would turn out to be the witch. In book 2 the witch was really evil, I mean, wicked kind of evil. I just didn't know how Julianne Maclean was going to redeem such an evil character. I did not like book 2 so much so I wasn't crazy about the part when Lachlan brought Catherine to Angus and Gwen.
And how the book wrapped up I was rolling my eyes. Really, Lachlan? And thank God Catherin is not the witch. The witch is the evil twin sister who at the end, decided to let go of her evil past and comfortably resided in the big house which belonged to Catherine and lived happily ever after? And the curse, don't even get me started. It was a joke! The witch was a "seer", she had no "magic".
She just wanted to Lachlan to suffer and told a big fat lie. It is not a chore to read her stories. I do hope to see more depth in her future stories.
Her stories are usually very sexual and it can only carry a writer so far. Jan 04, Steph rated it liked it Shelves: I will start by saying that I didn't enjoy this book as much as the previour two. I have always hated any stories that contain memory loss I'm not sure why, but I never like it.
I had no idea what was going on, who was who and the back and forth of 'I am not Raonaid' 'You are Raonaid' 'I am not Raonaid' just got on my nerves.
After that though it started to pick up a bit. I hated that Raonaid put such horrible curse on him, when she knew how close it was to his past. She knew how much it would devastate him and she went ahead with it anyway, not that's a cold hearted bitch! I just didn't really get the whole 'Now I have a family I am a completely different person, I have changed completely, in a day'.
It just didn't sit right with me. I did love Lachlan and how he behaved. He remained celibate for three years because of the curse even though it was killig him.
I'm still not sure if I liked Catherine or not. I did like that she was so feisty, speaking her mind and not afraid if she pisses people off. She was also quite sexual one things got going which is always a bonus. But there's just something in the back of mind that didn't like her anywhere near as much as Amelia and Gwedolen. It was great to see Angus and Gwen again and the amount of sex they muxt have been having to have Six kids and one more on the way, WOW that's a lot of rolling in the hay lol.
I did enjoy reading this book but my initial boredom reduced the rating. Dec 16, Shiran rated it it was amazing Shelves: If I had to go riding with a Highlander I would maim every horse but his so I could ride nestled in his lap: This series truly got better with every book. The curse is truly cruel and hits close to home for Lachlan.
He has spent 3 years searching for Raonaid with the intention of getting her to remove the curse, by any means necessary.
But when Lachlan finally finds If I had to go riding with a Highlander I would maim every horse but his so I could ride nestled in his lap: But when Lachlan finally finds Raonaid she is not the woman he remembers. From chapter 1 of this book I was on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what will happen next. He is a real charmer and even though he is a fictional character he even charmed me. What I liked most was that he kept his head with Catherine, he was mean to her and rightly so considering he thought she was Raonaid but still a gentleman.
I also respect him greatly for keeping himself in line when it came to the curse, a lot of men wouldn't have cared. Catherine was, for me, one of the most interesting characters. Her memory loss made it difficult to know who she really was and that made the story even more exciting.
She is a strong woman who is determined to find her way and even when Gwen gives her a cold reception she holds her own and keeps her head up. I also liked that she was willing to accept the fact that she really was Raonaid but was sure she would not be the same vindictive person if that was the case.
It was great to see Angus and Gwen again, and I give MacLean props for her understanding of character building. Angus still didn't forgive easily or trust Lachlan at all, while Gwen was still the sweet, trusting person we know from the last book. This book contains excitement, secrets and romance that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

This was part of a series and I picked it up anyway. Turned out to be book three of a trilogy, but didn't feel it disrupted the story.
There were brief mentions of the past and the epilogue updated previous characters as well. For me, this book had a lot of potential and for more than half of the book I was glued. The plot was excellent.
A Curve in the Road
A witch placed a curse on hero and he spent years hunt Picked this book up on a whim at Walmart because I was in the mood for a good, hunky highlander romance. A witch placed a curse on hero and he spent years hunting her down. Several twists, but I figured out where this was going and that's exactly where it went, but enjoyed the first half of the book. The second half was a nightmare and very very very boring. The heroine became the "chaser" in the relationship and I didn't like that at all.
There was a great deal of recapping. A scene would play out then, the characters would relay what happened--in great detail--to each other. The ending was closed quickly and left me with, "That's it? First half of the book: Sep 24, Lydia rated it liked it Shelves: Another day, another sexually-objectified highlander novel.
I think this one is my favourite so far, out of the series? I like Lachlan a lot, and I I want to like the main female character, Catherine but I have mixed feelings. The book didn't go where I thought it was going to go, but it was still good? And I'm almost glad it didn't go where it was going to go because it would've ruined one of my favourite side characters in the series? I will also say that I liked that Catherine wasn't just Another day, another sexually-objectified highlander novel.
I will also say that I liked that Catherine wasn't just a precious virgin quivering under her massive companion this time. I might just say fuck it and read all 5 books, hey? Not that anyone's really interested apologies to everyone who follows me for my reviews of actual literature, I do not have the brain power but I promise there will be many a snarky status to come.
Apr 25, Nickcole rated it it was amazing. So when starting this book, i was a little disappointed because i thought the story was going down a bad road and then the twist happened with Catherine and the book for me took a whole new life. One of my favorite side things about the book is that we got reintroduced to previous main characters from the other books.
I really loved how each book in the series was tied to together in one way or another. I kind of felt like one minute it was hot and the next it was cold. I was hoping that they would actually sit down and explain things to each other instead of assuming it. The Epilogue was my favorite part of the book because it gave me closer to the series and gave me the HEA i was looking for.

I was sad to know that there weren't more books for this series. When I finished Claimed by the Highlander last summer, I was super excited to know that there was another book coming up! I waited so long to learn what would happen to Lachlan with this surprising curse! The characters were great; Lachlan is an awesom My rating: I like the fact that he's determined to lift up his curse and work pretty hard on himself to make it happen.
Catherine was an interesting characters; Pretty and girlie, I like the fact that she's not a kick-ass or some kind of warrior girl like Gwendolyn and Amelia These two have a strong personality, but Catherine's more relaxed and tranquil: I think she reflected more the women from this time.
She's unique in this series: The plot was different from most of Highlander story that I read since some time! I really love Paranormal Romance and Seduced by the Highlander is more romantic than paranormal.
But this series have something else that makes it up of the bunch. I think the plot, the characters and the imagination of the author really keep me hanging on. I think the author really discerned what I like in romance and put it all in this trilogy!
What that bother me was that l discovered early some interesting part of the overall progress, but that didn't stop me from reading the book until the end! The author still managed to surprise me with several important elements of the book.
So if you love your books fill up with romance and handsome highlanders, this series is for you! Feb 20, Danielle rated it really liked it. I liked the story, but again I felt as if it should have been more depth to the whole trilogy.
But the writer did a very enjoyable work and now I will be reading more of her work. It is certainly an author I'd recommend. Lachlan was the male character that I liked the most in the whole trilogy, for the whole womanizer background and the whys for his behavior. The curse was kind of silly and I think if it were me I would have test the truth in it, which is cruel of m I liked the story, but again I felt as if it should have been more depth to the whole trilogy.
